As the world's fifth largest automotive market, switching to electric vehicles (EVs) could have far-reaching benefits for Southeast Asia (SEA). Nations with significant automotive industries such as Indonesia and Thailand can expand their footprint in the supply chain and fuel the much-needed post-Covid economic recovery. In the long term, the uptake of EVs will improve the region's megacities air quality and fulfil countries' climate change targets.
In this webinar, we will dive into Southeast Asia's pathway to electromobility, consider the promise in electric two-wheelers, public & commercial transportation and evaluate the key remaining challenges:
- Which EV supporting policies are we seeing in the region?
- Which major OEM and charging infrastructure investments have been announced? Are the incentives introduced by SEA governments sufficient to spur initial EV adoption?
- How can SEA promote cross-sector partnerships (manufacturing, electricity, oil & gas), ensuring the region's EV revolution will be powered by electricity generated from renewable energy sources, and avoid grid problems?
- Emergence of new business models
- Digital and battery innovations - how are they shaping the EV adoption and grid stability?
